Kris has been an avid performer all his life. From the time he could walk, he'd groove along to music on the radio or his parents collection of 70's and 80's music [mostly on vinyl or cassette] and talking, well that was reserved for moments of 'song' or perhaps a favourite melody he'd heard and couldn't quite understand the words to but would sing along regardless.
He has formal qualifications in Music Theatre from the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music - CQUniversity Australia, where he obtained his Bachelor of Theatre (Music Theatre Specialisation). Presently, he is completing a Graduate Diploma Learning & Teaching (Secondary) also through CQUniversity Australia.
During his time at the 'Con' he had worked with and established professional industry connections and friendships with a few names in Australian music theatre from Jack Webster, John Wregg, Dale Pengelley, Trevor Green, Brendan Ross, Michael Turkic, Will Conyers, Chloe Dallimore and the true legend, Nancye Hayes OAM. He has also enjoyed musical collaborations with fellow students and lectures alike, including his long-time vocal coach and friend, Garrick Jones, mentor and sometime 'older brother', Kim Kirkman, as well as Judith Brown not to mention Peter Saide, Paul Tabone, Brett O'Neill and too many others to mention. Studying dance movement from classical [Ballet] to Tap and Jazz/Music Theatre with Lynette Denny OAM, Karen Bishop, Dolly Louw, Laura Shuttlewood, Petar Grulovic and Trevor Green. All have positively impacted on Kris' psyche and reflect in his professional approach to the stage and theatre.
Regular attendance at various workshops and masterclasses with leading professionals and musicans have also bolstered Kris' personal development as a performer and vocal coach. Professionally, Kris has enjoyed singing in an operatic 'boy-band' Formidable. Recording on all their independently released CD's as well as touring nationally along side Kim Kirkman (as Music Director) Judith Brown (as Accompanist) Paul Tabone, Brett O'Neill, Sam Hanson and Neil Young.
His home town of Home Hill, still enjoys supporting local talent, and has been invited on several occasions to not only perform with the Home Hill Choral Sociey, and the Burdekin Singers & Theatre Company at many concerts and theatre restaurants, but also for civic events hosted by the Burdekin Shire Council. He also provides group vocal and music theatre workshops to local school students whenever possible and is a vocal consultant for these organisations as well.
The diversity of performance opportunities in Mackay has certainly broadened with the additon of The Conservatorium Academy offered through the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music.- CQUniversity Australia. 2012 saw Kris take the reigns of this dynamic and engaging program that allows school-aged students to explore and develop their skills in singinig, acting and dance; as well as develop, produce and stage a fresh version of the classic tale of Cinderella, by incorporating various music theatre songs from other productions thus enabling students to learn about varied genres and styles associated with this vast form of theatrical entertainment.

Recently Kris has also been invited to adjudicate for the Mackay Inter-school Apex Debating Competition that is hosted annually in the region, with competitors enjoying learning and developing new debating skills as well as building friendships and enjoying the experience this form of public speaking offers. Having been a District and Regional Finalist for the Lions Youth of the Year Quest himself, Kris has certainly provided well-respected-and-appreciated insight, knowledge and personal skill-set to these bright students representing their respective schools encompassing both independant and government education institutions.
He presently resides in Mackay and amidst his academic study, enjoys private vocal coaching within his own Kriscendo Studios and also as Founder, Conductor and Music Director for A-Choir'd Pitch, a youth choir (ages 8 - 18) that has a Glee-style influence, incorporating popular and traditional choral music coupled with staging and dance movement. This creative format has certainly flourished since inception in 2013 under the direct guidance and support of the Mackay Choral Society Inc.
